{"id":164458,"date":"2017-03-30T16:38:47","date_gmt":"2017-03-30T20:38:47","guid":{"rendered":"\/news\/?p=164458"},"modified":"2017-04-06T16:09:51","modified_gmt":"2017-04-06T20:09:51","slug":"babies-left-die-survive-abortion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/babies-left-die-survive-abortion\/","title":{"rendered":"Are babies left to die when they survive abortion?"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>The latest undercover video from the Center for Medical Progress (CMP) shows a Planned Parenthood Medical Director describing how she would react to a baby who survived an abortion &#8212; and it rightly has the nation horrified and again wondering: Are babies left to die when they survive abortion?<\/p>\n<p>The answer to that question may be found in a statement (made to undercover investigators posing as fetal tissue buyers) by Dr. DeShawn Taylor, previous Medical Director of Planned Parenthood of Arizona and longtime abortion provider at Planned Parenthood of Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p>In the video below, a CMP investigator is heard asking Dr. Taylor whether there is &#8220;any standard procedure for verifying signs of life.\u201d Her reply is beyond unsettling: &#8220;Well, the thing is, I mean the key is, you need to pay attention to who\u2019s in the room, right?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/aeINzcwb3qU\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>One past case in\u00a0Florida illustrates perfectly\u00a0how\u00a0&#8220;who&#8217;s in the room&#8221; can make the difference between life and death for a child who survives an abortion.<\/p>\n<p>In 2006, the A Gyn Diagnostic Center in Hialeah, owned by a woman named <a href=\"http:\/\/www.operationrescue.org\/?p=563\">Belkis Gonzalez<\/a>,\u00a0came under investigation after an anonymous caller told police that staffers <em>threw a baby\u00a0on the roof of the building\u00a0<\/em>after being born alive in the facility&#8217;s waiting room. The baby&#8217;s 18-year-old mother went to the facility believing she was 23 weeks pregnant, and while waiting for abortionist Pierre Jean-Jacques Renelique to arrive, delivered her baby girl, who eventually died an excruciating death.<\/p>\n<p>In an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.operationrescue.org\/pdfs\/hialeahsearch.PDF\">arrest affidavit<\/a>, Gonzalez\u00a0testified that she &#8220;observed the infant moving and making noises for approximately five minutes.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>According to a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2009\/CRIME\/03\/03\/abortion.live.birth\/\">CNN report<\/a> of the incident, the baby girl&#8217;s mother said Gonzalez entered the room, used a pair of shears to cut the baby&#8217;s umbilical cord, then &#8220;scooped up the baby and placed the live baby, placenta, and afterbirth in a red plastic biohazard bag, which she sealed, and then threw the bag and the baby in a trash can.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>On July 28, 2006, an informant <a href=\"http:\/\/www.operationrescue.org\/pdfs\/hialeahsearch.PDF\">told<\/a> police that the baby&#8217;s body was placed on the roof of the building, but was later retrieved and placed back inside the business.\u00a0Police did not locate the baby&#8217;s remains until they had visited the abortion facility\u00a0a second time, six days after the mother said her daughter was born alive.<\/p>\n<p>Operation Rescue also <a href=\"http:\/\/www.operationrescue.org\/archives\/conviction-of-abortion-clinic-owner-falls-short-grand-jury-investigation-called-for-into-infant-death\/\">detailed<\/a>\u00a0the case:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Abortion clinic owner <a href=\"http:\/\/www.operationrescue.org\/?p=563\">Belkis Gonzalez<\/a> pled guilty on December 20, 2007, to practicing medicine without a license at a Miramar, Florida, abortion clinic&#8230;. Gonzalez and her associate, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.operationrescue.org\/?p=607\">Siomara Senises<\/a>, were involved in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.operationrescue.org\/?p=482\">death of a baby born alive.<\/a>&#8230; That death was discovered when an anonymous call was made to the police, who discovered that an infant was born alive during a late-term abortion, placed in a biohazard bag, and tossed onto the roof of the abortion clinic by Gonzalez in order to avoid detection. The mother of the dead baby girl, who was named Shanice Denise Osborne, has since come forward and corroborated the story.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The abortionist, who claimed he was not in the building when the baby was born, never faced murder charges, but according\u00a0to CNN, Renelique&#8217;s license to practice medicine was revoked. The medical board upheld Department of Health allegations that he falsified medical records, inappropriately delegated tasks to unlicensed personnel, and committed malpractice.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/XfDEEl8t9n0\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>When it comes to abortion, Dr. Taylor&#8217;s words appears to be standard operating procedure, despite several state and federal laws that compel medical personnel to make every attempt to save a baby that survives an abortion attempt.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element \">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<p class=\"normal\">Under the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/107th-congress\/house-bill\/2175\/text\" target=\"_blank\">Born Alive Infants Protection Act<\/a>, a child who survives an abortion is guaranteed protection and the full rights of citizenship. However, these infants are often left alone to die, struggling for life, or are killed by abortionists. In Live Action&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/liveaction.org\/what-we-do\/investigations\/inhuman-late-term-abortion\/\">Inhuman<\/a>\u00a0investigation, abortionists were exposed admitting they would refuse life-saving medical care to infants who survive abortions in their facilities:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/NxOWyumLufA\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Live Action News readers should recall the case of Pennsylvania abortionist Kermit Gosnell, who was convicted of three counts of first-degree murder after snipping\u00a0the spinal cords of babies\u00a0born alive during late-term abortions.<\/p>\n<p>The horrors of Gosnell&#8217;s crimes were recounted in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.phila.gov\/districtattorney\/pdfs\/grandjurywomensmedical.pdf\">Grand Jury Report<\/a>,\u00a0which read in part:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>He [Gosnell] also killed live, viable, moving, breathing, crying babies. He killed them by cutting their spinal cords after their mothers had delivered them after receiving excessive amounts of medication designed to induce active labor. This report documents multiple murders of viable babies. The evidence makes a compelling case that many others were also murdered.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The report also states:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>It was Gosnell\u2019s standard business practice, to slay viable babies.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-35032\" src=\"\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/babyboywithslit-small-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/>In addition to Gosnell, the state also arrested and convicted Gosnell&#8217;s wife, along with several of Gosnell&#8217;s employees, on various charges after documenting &#8220;seven specific incidents in which Gosnell or one of his employees severed the spine of a viable baby born alive.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Despite abortion supporters claiming Gosnell was an outlier, an abortionist in Houston,\u00a0Texas,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.operationrescue.org\/archives\/special-report-new-stunning-photos-testimony-show-texas-abortionist-kills-babies-born-alive\/\" target=\"_blank\">accused<\/a>\u00a0by his staffers of doing similar acts, demonstrates\u00a0otherwise.\u00a0Former employees of Douglas Karpen <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?time_continue=167&amp;v=9fhyJItGPko\" target=\"_blank\">said<\/a>\u00a0they witnessed babies alive, moving, and breathing after late-term abortion procedures performed inside his\u00a0legally operating abortion facility.<\/p>\n<p>One former staffer stated (in an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=yaBe6rsw1jY\" target=\"_blank\">exchange<\/a>\u00a0with Mark Crutcher, president of Life Dynamics):<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Most of the time we would see him where the fetus would come completely out and of course the fetus would still be alive because it was still moving, of course, you could see the stomach breathing and, um, that\u2019s when he would do his, um, he would snip the spine, as they were saying this doctor did, and of course the soft spot was one of the spots that he, um, would take one of the forceps &#8212; or what is it called? &#8212; the dilators, and stick it down the soft spot of the fetus&#8217;s head.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>When Crutcher asked Karpen&#8217;s former employees if they saw the abortionist &#8220;kill that baby outside the womb,\u201d they replied, \u201cYes, sir.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Crutcher then asked if he killed them\u00a0&#8220;by jamming some kind of instrument into the soft spot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One of the women responded, \u201cEither that or actually twisting the head off the neck, kind of with his own bare hands.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In December 2016, Live Action News <a href=\"\/news\/texas-gosnell-referred-for-criminal-charges-in-congressional-investigation\/\">reported<\/a>\u00a0that the House <a href=\"https:\/\/energycommerce.house.gov\/select-investigative-panel\">Select Investigative Panel on Infant Lives<\/a>,\u00a0which investigated the illegal sale of aborted baby body parts, issued several <a href=\"https:\/\/energycommerce.house.gov\/news-center\/letters\/select-investigative-panel-criminal-and-regulatory-referrals\">referrals for criminal investigations<\/a> to state attorney generals\u00a0and\u00a0the United States Department of Justice.\u00a0Karpen was on that list.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/liveaction.org\/petition\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-160409\" src=\"\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/DefundAd-400b-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"170\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The callous disregard for babies who survive abortion was also detailed in an exchange between a Planned Parenthood lobbyist and\u00a0Florida lawmakers in 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Alisa LaPolt Snow, a lobbyist for the Florida Alliance of Planned Parenthood Affiliates, stated that allowing babies to die on the table after being aborted was between the \u201cdoctor and their patient.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">This alarming claim was made\u00a0while Snow\u00a0was testifying on behalf of Planned Parenthood against a \u2018Born Alive\u2019 infant protection bill that would give human rights to babies born alive after botched abortions. Snow said doctors in abortion facilities\u00a0should not be required to take\u00a0surviving babies to a hospital, instead leaving the \u2018choice\u2019 of life or death\u00a0up to the abortionist and the child&#8217;s mother:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/qEv1afKaLhA\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Stunned by her statement, Rep. Jim Boyd asked Snow:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>So, um, it is just really hard for me to even ask you this question because I\u2019m almost in disbelief. If a baby is born on a table as a result of a botched abortion, what would Planned Parenthood want to have happen to that child that is struggling for life?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Rather than assuring the lawmakers that her organization would comply with the Federal Born Alive Infants Protection Act, requiring physicians to attempt to save a baby who survives an abortion attempt, the Planned Parenthood lobbyist responded: &#8220;We believe that any decision that\u2019s made should be left up to the woman, her family, and the physician.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>As Live Action reported during its\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/liveaction.org\/inhuman\/fl-planned-parenthood\/\">Inhuman investigation<\/a>, Planned Parenthood eventually released a statement, following after outrage over its\u00a0lobbyists&#8217; comments:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>In the extremely unlikely event that the scenario presented by the panel of legislators should happen, of course Planned Parenthood would provide appropriate care to both the woman and the infant.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>What, exactly, does &#8220;appropriate care&#8221; mean to the nation&#8217;s largest abortion business, which has been racked with <a href=\"http:\/\/liveaction.org\/what-we-do\/investigations\/medical-misinformation\/\">scandal<\/a> after <a href=\"http:\/\/liveaction.org\/what-we-do\/investigations\/child-sex-trafficking-cover-up\/\">scandal<\/a> after <a href=\"http:\/\/liveaction.org\/what-we-do\/investigations\/sexual-abuse-cover-up\/\">scandal<\/a>?<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s really anyone&#8217;s guess.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The latest undercover video from the Center for Medical Progress (CMP) shows a Planned Parenthood Medical Director describing how she would react to a baby who survived an abortion &#8212; and it rightly has the nation horrified and again wondering: Are babies left to die when they survive abortion?
