Notorious abortionist Willie Parker is well-known in pro-life circles. He’s an\u00a0abortionist who practices in Alabama, as well as at the only abortion facility left in the state of Mississippi. Parker has frequently spoken to pro-abortion media outlets about how he is motivated to kill preborn babies due to his “Christianity,” often with little-to-no questioning of the validity of his idea that\u00a0performing abortions could be considered a Christian activity. The latest example is in the New York Times Magazine, where Parker explains what his bedside manner is like, promotes his new book, and denies the humanity of preborn children<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Parker’s book is called — no joke — Life’s Work<\/em>. Interviewer Ana Marie Cox says that in his book, Parker makes moral and spiritual arguments for abortion, and explains why he now performs abortions due to his religious beliefs.<\/p>\n

Parker claims that he experienced a religious “conversion,” where he became convinced that his Christianity necessitated his work as an abortionist. Interestingly, it was his religious beliefs that initially caused him to doubt the morality of abortion — but instead, he just changed his beliefs. “I had to come to a crisis moment regarding a religious understanding that left me unable to help women when I felt deeply for their situation,” he explained. “So I needed to convert from a religious understanding that left me paralyzed to act on my deepest sense of connection to one that empowered me to do what I felt to be the right thing. It felt as life-altering for me to move from being unable to do abortions to being able to do them as it did to move from being a nonbeliever to becoming a believer.”<\/p>\n

Cox pointed out in the interview that Parker acknowledges in his book that abortion is a “life-ending process.”<\/p>\n

“Here\u2019s the thing: Life is a process, not an event. If I thought I was killing a person, I wouldn\u2019t do abortions,” he responded. “A fetus is not a person; it\u2019s a human entity. In the moral scheme of things, I don\u2019t hold fetal life and the life of a woman equally. I value them both, but in the precedence of things, when a woman comes to me, I find myself unable to demote her aspirations because of the aspirations that someone else has for the fetus that she\u2019s carrying.”<\/p>\n

This, of course, is patently false; preborn babies are not “human entities”; they are human beings, actual people, with intrinsic human value and dignity. And we know this, not due to some random belief system, but because of science, which tells us that preborn babies are human beings<\/a>. At the moment of conception, a preborn baby already has his own DNA, separate and unique from his mother. Just 21 short days after conception, his heart is beating; just a few weeks after that, brain waves can be measured. Each\u00a0baby has his or her\u00a0own unique fingerprints by 10 weeks of pregnancy, and by the end of the first trimester, all of the baby’s\u00a0major organs have been formed. Denying the humanity of the preborn means denying science.<\/p>\n
