(Newsbusters.org<\/a>) One abortionist is revealing his abortion religion \u2013 and one\u00a0New York Times<\/em>\u00a0writer couldn\u2019t get enough of it.<\/p>\n

In a\u00a0piece<\/a>\u00a0published Wednesday,\u00a0New York Times Magazine<\/em>\u00a0columnist Ana Marie Cox interviewed Willie J. Parker, a Mississippi abortionist and former Planned Parenthood medical director,\u00a0on his upcoming\u00a0Life\u2019s Work<\/em>\u00a0memoir. During the interview, Parker pointed to his faith as the reason he performs abortions. And while abortion is \u201clife-ending,\u201d he added, it isn\u2019t \u201ckilling a person\u201d \u2013 just a \u201chuman entity.\u201d<\/p>\n

From the very beginning, Cox hyped that Parker\u2019s book \u201cis rooted\u201d by his \u201cmoral and spiritual argument in favor of abortion rights.\u201d<\/p>\n

Before working in the abortion industry, Parker said he experienced a \u201clife-altering\u201d \u201cconversion\u201d that led him to believe that, as a Christian, he should perform abortions, instead of vice versa.<\/p>\n

\u201cI needed to convert\u00a0from a religious understanding that left me paralyzed<\/strong>\u00a0to act on my deepest sense of connection to one that empowered me\u00a0to do what I felt to be the right thing<\/strong>,\u201d he told Cox.<\/p>\n

But, as Cox pointed out, Parker admits in his book that abortion is a \u201clife-ending process.\u201d Parker didn\u2019t deny it; but his definition of human \u201clife\u201d wasn\u2019t synonymous with a human \u201cperson.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cLife is a process, not an event,\u201d he argued, and so, \u201cA fetus is not a person; it\u2019s a human entity<\/strong>.\u201d He added, \u201cIf I thought I was killing a person, I wouldn\u2019t do abortions.\u201d<\/p>\n

So, \u201cin the moral scheme of things,\u201d he said, \u201cI don\u2019t hold fetal life and the life of a woman equally.\u201d Both have \u201cvalue,\u201d he conceded, but \u201cI find myself unable to demote [a woman\u2019s] aspirations because of the aspirations that someone else has for the fetus that she\u2019s carrying.\u201d<\/p>\n

In their conversation, Cox also referenced Parker\u2019s \u201cverbicaine\u201d method during abortions where he tries to \u201clighten the mood\u201d through conversation despite the \u201cnarrative that makes abortion seem morbid and tragic.\u201d She also brought up Parker\u2019s love of football, a sport that he called \u201clarger than life.\u201d (Ending a life is OK. But a\u00a0football game? That\u2019s another question.)<\/p>\n

Cox also asked Parker about his \u201cconnection between your heritage as a descendant of slaves and the idea that abortion is ultimately about ownership of a body.\u201d (Well, that\u2019s true \u2013 ownership of an unborn baby\u2019s body, that is.)<\/p>\n

\u201cI come from a heritage of people who know what it\u2019s like to have your life controlled by somebody else,\u201d he responded. But, instead of the unborn, Parker meant women, because \u201cif you don\u2019t control your reproduction, you don\u2019t control anything else about your life.\u201d<\/p>\n

But the \u201cbiggest insult,\u201d he told Cox at another point, is the \u201cnotion that there\u2019s such a thing as a black genocide, as if the people who care about abortion really care about black women and black babies.\u201d<\/p>\n

In her last question, Cox lost all pretense as an unbiased interviewer. \u201cI can\u2019t help mentioning that you\u2019re not married,\u201d she said before asking, \u201cIs that a choice on your part? Because you seem pretty cool!\u201d<\/p>\n

On that note, maybe it\u2019s a blessing in disguise if\u00a0The New York Times<\/em>\u00a0forgets about reviewing\u00a0stories telling the truth about the horrors of the abortion industry<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t the first time Parker has appeared in the pages of\u00a0The Times<\/em>. In 2015, the Opinion Pages\u00a0published his piece<\/a>, \u201cWhy I Provide Abortions,\u201d where he insisted that abortion \u201crespond[s] to our patients\u2019 needs\u201d and therefore expresses\u00a0\u201cthe deepest level of love that you can have for another person.\u201d He has also appeared in\u00a0Cosmopolitan<\/em>, where he\u00a0compared<\/a>\u00a0a Planned Parenthood executive to \u201cJesus before crucifixion.\u201d<\/p>\n
