Doctors did not expect her to survive, but they did everything they could to save her. If she had been born before the abortion cut-off period of 24 weeks, doctors likely wouldn&#8217;t have done anything to help her survive.<\/p>\n<p>Under current U.K. law, doctors are not required to give life-saving support to infants born before 24 weeks because those children are not considered viable. However, children born before 24 weeks have been <a href=\"\/news\/more-babies-born-premature-are-surviving\/\">beating the odds<\/a> and surviving, including Amillia Taylor, who was born at just 21 weeks, six days. As Live Action News <a href=\"\/news\/fact-check-planned-parenthood-actually-does-perform-abortions-after-viability\/\">reported<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>[F]etal respiratory capacity\u00a0<em>has<\/em>\u00a0been enhanced in our modern day. A great number of babies can now survive at 22 weeks gestation. (The earliest recorded babies to survive,\u00a0James Elgin Gill and Frieda Mangold, were born at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalrighttolifenews.org\/news\/2013\/04\/one-of-youngest-ever-surviving-preemies-goes-home\/#.Vg7llHtqHaY\">21 weeks 6 days<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifesitenews.com\/news\/twin-babies-born-a-week-before-the-uk-abortion-cutoff-celebrate-first-birth\">21 weeks 5 days<\/a>.) The Washington Post remarkably\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/blogs\/fact-checker\/wp\/2015\/05\/26\/setting-the-record-straight-on-measuring-fetal-age-and-the-20-week-abortion\/\">even reported<\/a>: \u201cThat babies can survive at 22 weeks is not a new finding; it has been known for 15 years. \u2026 New research confirmed that 22-week fetuses, measured from the first day of the pregnant woman\u2019s last menstrual cycle, can survive.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;I didn&#8217;t think she would be here,&#8221; Bradley told <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/health\/article-4155356\/Baby-feet-size-penny-SAVED.html\">the Daily Mail<\/a>\u00a0of Francesca. &#8220;It&#8217;s scary to think if she had been just two days earlier, they wouldn&#8217;t have worked to save her.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/7sJMnb8h43I?rel=0\" width=\"853\" height=\"480\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>At just one pound, six ounces, little Francesca was so small that her feet were not much bigger than a penny, and her hand was about the size of her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=7sJMnb8h43I&amp;feature=share\">mother&#8217;s thumbnail<\/a>. Her skin was translucent, and it took her 11 minutes to take her first breath. (Photo credit: Victoria Bradley&#8217;s Facebook page)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>During her 17 weeks in the hospital, Francesca underwent 15 blood transfusions, battled meningitis and sepsis, had her lungs collapse twice, had laser eye surgery to correct a rare condition, and suffered from kidney problems.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;She was so tiny, and so poorly,&#8221; said Bradley. &#8220;We were told it was hour by hour with her, and they didn&#8217;t think she would survive. Her blood was full of infections.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>But Francesca proved herself to be a fighter, and now, at nine months old, she is not only surviving, but also thriving. She doesn&#8217;t require any medication or special equipment and is a healthy little girl\u2014proving that even when life seems difficult or impossible, a miracle may be just around the bend.<\/p>\n<p>Babies who are <a href=\"\/news\/fact-check-planned-parenthood-actually-does-perform-abortions-after-viability\/\">aborted at the same age Francesca was born<\/a> are usually aborted using the D&amp;E method or the induction method.
