Abortion Doctor Would Leave Babies Born Alive from Abortion to Die<\/i><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><i>Six-Month Investigation Sheds Light on Illegal, Inhuman, and Gruesome Practices at Numerous Abortion Clinics across the Country<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Arlington, VA: Live Action today released a second undercover video revealing how leading D.C. late-term abortion doctor Cesare Santengelo would leave a baby struggling for life after a failed abortion to die. The video is the second in a series of undercover videos, found at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/inhuman\/\">www.liveaction.org\/inhuman<\/a>, involving a number of late-term abortion clinics engaging in illegal and inhuman practices, as well as explaining in graphic terms what happens to the victims of late-term abortion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHopefully we\u2019ll get this pregnancy out intact, but it doesn\u2019t always happen that way,\u201d Washington, D.C. abortion doctor Cesare Santangelo tells an undercover Live Action investigator who is 24 weeks pregnant.\u00a0 \u201cI try and sever the umbilical cord first, and we wait for that to stop pulsing, and this way the fetus is expired first.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When asked by the undercover investigator what would happen if the baby were to survive the abortion, Doctor Santangelo responds:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i>\u201cTechnically \u2013 you know, legally we would be obligated to help it, you know, to survive.\u00a0 But, you know, it probably wouldn\u2019t.\u00a0 It\u2019s all in how vigorously you do things to help a fetus survive at this point.\u00a0 Let\u2019s say you went into labor, the membranes ruptured, and you delivered before we got to the termination part of the procedure here, you know? \u00a0Then we would do things \u2013 we would \u2013 we would not help it.\u00a0 We wouldn\u2019t intubate. \u00a0It would be, you know, uh, a person, a terminal person in the hospital, let\u2019s say, that had cancer, you know? \u00a0You wouldn\u2019t do any extra procedures to help that person survive.\u00a0 Like \u2018do not resuscitate\u2019 orders.\u00a0 We would do the same things here.\u201d <\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Live Action President Lila Rose called the practices \u201cillegal and inhuman\u201d and charged that they are a violation federal law \u2013 namely, the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is clear from our investigation that the horrors revealed during the Kermit Gosnell trial are not exclusive to that clinic.\u00a0 Our videos expose the truly gruesome, illegal, and inhuman practices going on inside many of America\u2019s abortion clinics.\u00a0 Our investigation reveals that these inhuman practices are just another day at the office for abortionists and their staff. \u00a0By making the killing of our weakest children their profession, these doctors, nurses, counselors, and staff make a mockery of medicine and the Hippocratic oath to \u2018do no harm.\u2019 These children deserve our protection, not the ignorance that allows these atrocities to continue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday, Live Action released a video (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.liveaction.org\/inhuman\/\">www.liveaction.org\/inhuman<\/a>) of a Bronx, NY abortion counselor who described how a born-alive baby would be placed in a jar of toxic \u201csolution\u201d to ensure death.\u00a0 The videos are part of Live Action\u2019s six-month undercover investigation shedding light on the illegal, inhuman, and gruesome practices of numerous clinics throughout the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese clinics should be shut down,\u201d Rose said, \u201cand the doctors and clinic staff engaging in these inhuman and illegal practices should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.\u00a0 This is infanticide, and these babies born alive but left to die deserve justice, and our care and compassion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rose is calling for Attorney General Eric Holder and the U.S. Attorney\u2019s office to investigate and prosecute Dr. Santangelo, who is in violation of federal law.\u00a0 Rose also called on local health and law enforcement officials to similarly investigate Dr. Santangelo and put an end to his illegal and inhuman practices.<\/p>\n<p>From the letter to General Holder: \u201cWe urge you, as the U.S. Attorney General, to speak out against this injustice, and to see to it that Dr. Santangelo and the Washington Surgi-Clinic are duly investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. &#8230; I hope that you will do everything in your power to speak out for victims of infanticide \u2013 both the children and the women \u2013 and to protect the human rights of our weakest citizens. \u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Live Action is a youth-led movement dedicated to building a culture of life and ending the human rights abuse of abortion.\u00a0 The group uses new media to educate the public about the humanity of the preborn and investigative journalism to expose threats against the vulnerable and defenseless.
