{"id":160166,"date":"2017-01-11T22:24:58","date_gmt":"2017-01-12T03:24:58","guid":{"rendered":"\/news\/?p=160166"},"modified":"2017-01-12T14:34:35","modified_gmt":"2017-01-12T19:34:35","slug":"numerous-health-violations-found-at-missouri-planned-parenthood","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/numerous-health-violations-found-at-missouri-planned-parenthood\/","title":{"rendered":"2016 was a big year for health violations at this Missouri Planned Parenthood"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>You know it&#8217;s bad when even longtime pro-life\u00a0activists\u00a0are shocked by what is found in the health inspection reports of an abortion facility.<\/p>\n<p>This week, Operation Rescue <a href=\"http:\/\/www.operationrescue.org\/archives\/health-inspections-reveal-st-louis-planned-parenthood-isnt-safe-or-clean\/\">published an article<\/a> detailing reports showing how unsafe Planned Parenthood in St. Louis, Missouri, really is. This is the same location\u00a0which has sent <a href=\"\/news\/97269-2\/\">more than 60 patients<\/a>\u00a0(that we know of) to hospitals in ambulances since 2009. The facility reportedly conducts 340-462 abortions every month, and more than 5,000 annually &#8212; numbers\u00a0Operation Rescue describes as &#8220;high volume.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, Cate Dyer, CEO of fetal body parts procurement company StemExpress, also <a href=\"\/news\/stemexpress-ceo-jokes-shipping-whole-heads-aborted-babies-research-labs\/\">said<\/a> of\u00a0the whole of Planned Parenthood&#8217;s abortion and fetal tissue collection operations, &#8220;Planned Parenthood has volume, because they are a volume institution.&#8221;\u00a0So much for that whole &#8220;abortion is only <a href=\"\/news\/new-video-debunks-planned-parenthoods-3-percent-abortion-myth\/\">3 percent<\/a> of what Planned Parenthood does&#8221; claim&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/qtgqxvaV-8U\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>As Live Action News reported last year, a\u00a0Missouri Senate\u00a0<a href=\"\/news\/missouri-senate-panel-issues-disturbing-report-planned-parenthood-st-louis\/\">investigation<\/a> of the facility&#8217;s practices &#8212; including policies regarding fetal tissue disposal &#8212;\u00a0left more questions and gaps than answers, and revealed a &#8220;shocking indifference to women&#8217;s health.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Along those lines, OR president Troy Newman stated that while &#8220;[w]e have long understood that the St. Louis Planned Parenthood abortion facility was among the worst in America when it comes to abortion-related complications&#8230; reading over the inspection reports, we can see the truly horrific extent of dangerous health and safety conditions and practices that endanger women every day there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So, what&#8217;s in these inspection reports, anyway? According to Operation Rescue, the reports reveal &#8220;<strong>39 classes of violations<\/strong>\u00a0involving\u00a0<strong>210 incidents\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 53% (111) of which were related to failure to provide a safe and sanitary environment.&#8221; Inspections &#8220;took place in 2009, 2013, 2015, and 2016&#8221; but <em>61 percent<\/em> of the 210 incidents\u00a0occurred just last year, in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>OR notes that &#8220;Planned Parenthood was cited in both 2015 and 2016 for failing to follow the manufacturer\u2019s instructions for cleaning the facility\u2019s two autoclaves (sterilizers)&#8221; which were &#8220;discolored with brown spots&#8221; on the inside. In addition, in 2016, there were &#8220;chronic sanitation and cross-contamination issues, and&#8230; drug handling problems,&#8221; and the St. Louis Planned Parenthood was cited for &#8220;failure to provide infection control training to staff,&#8221; &#8220;failure to ensure that patients were fully reactive with stable vital signs before discharge,&#8221; &#8220;failure to&#8230; conduct criminal background checks&#8221; on potential employees, and failure to properly chart medical records, among multiple other violations.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ArticleAd2\">\n<p><!-- \/1011927\/LAN_300_BY_250_mid_article --><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1473179101244-0\" class=\"ArticleAd2a\"><script>\ngoogletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1473179101244-0'); });\n<\/script><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>But despite these violations, it seems local officials are more concerned with keeping pro-lifers away from Planned Parenthood than they are with the safety of the women who go to the facility. As <a href=\"site: www.liveactionnews.org missouri planned parenthood\">previously reported<\/a>, an amendment has been proposed that would change the city of St. Louis&#8217;s\u00a0anti-discrimination ordinance to\u00a0include pregnancy and reproductive health decisions as \u201cprotected classes.\u201d This would essentially\u00a0put a &#8220;buffer zone&#8221; in place around abortion facilities, including\u00a0Planned Parenthood of St. Louis. Historically, buffer zones have not been known to withstand court challenges in light of the First Amendment.<\/p>\n<p>Women need to be informed\u00a0of the dangers of abortion (<a href=\"\/news\/extreme-planned-parenthood-opposes-virtually-all-abortion-restrictions\/\">something Planned Parenthood<\/a> and the whole of the abortion industry oppose), and especially of the dangers of purported medical facilities which are operating unsafely and sending women away in ambulances at record rates.
