\u201cHamilton\u201d lead actor Lin-Manuel Miranda says a $10 donation<\/a> to Planned Parenthood Federation of America can get two lucky people tickets and backstage passes to shows in three different cities.<\/p>\n

For the third time this year, we\u2019re giving away a trip to Hamilton. First we did New York. Then we did Chicago. Now I guess we could do the upcoming San Francisco show, but here\u2019s another idea\u2026 let\u2019s do all three!<\/p>\n

Yep, if you win, we\u2019ll fly you and a friend to all three cities next year to see all three productions AND you\u2019ll get backstage meet-ups with the cast.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

According to Miranda, \u201call it takes\u2026is a $10 donation to Planned Parenthood Federation of America.\u201d Miranda\u2019s mother — psychologist Dr. Luz Towns-Miranda — serves as a member of the board of the Federation\u2019s political arm, the Planned Parenthood Action Fund.<\/p>\n

Miranda does not mention Planned Parenthood\u2019s over 300,000 annual abortions, its lawbreaking, or its abuse of women<\/a>. Instead, he claims that it \u201cwas founded on the revolutionary idea that women should have the information and care they need to live strong, healthy lives and fulfill their dreams \u2014 no ceilings, no limits.\u201d<\/p>\n

Additionally, according to Miranda:<\/p>\n

Today, Planned Parenthood is a trusted health care provider, an informed educator, a passionate advocate, and a global partner helping similar organizations around the world. Planned Parenthood delivers vital reproductive health care, sex education, and information to millions of women, men, and young people worldwide.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Miranda also told The Daily Beast<\/em><\/a> about his support for America\u2019s largest abortion chain. He described Planned Parenthood as \u201can organization that\u2019s really saved lives time and again. The thing it\u2019s controversial for [abortion] is a very small part of the health services it provides\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Yet despite Miranda’s\u00a0assertion that the abortion chain is necessary for women’s health, Planned Parenthood only provides a very small portion of true healthcare services (and is outnumbered by comprehensive health care clinics 20-1<\/a>). Pregnancy Resource Centers, which provide support to women in crisis pregnancies, also outnumber Planned Parenthood locations about five to one.<\/p>\n

Based on national abortion data<\/a>, Planned Parenthood\u00a0performs\u00a0less than 2 percent of all cancer screenings for women, even less pap\u00a0tests, and zero mammograms, as detailed in the data below:<\/p>\n

Planned Parenthood\u2019s U.S. market share for Pap tests is 0.97%. \u00a0It performed 271,539 tests in fiscal year 2014-15, out of 28.1 million tests nationwide. \u00a0Source.<\/a><\/p>\n

Planned Parenthood\u2019s U.S. market share for abortions is 30.6%. \u00a0It committed 323,999 abortions in fiscal year 2014-15, out of approximately 1.06 million abortions nationwide. \u00a0Source.<\/a><\/p>\n

Miranda may simply be ignorant about the falseness behind the \u201cthree percent\u201d claim by Planned Parenthood (that 97 percent of what it does isn\u2019t abortions), but Live Action News,<\/a> Washington Post<\/em>,<\/a> and even FactCheck.org readers know better<\/a>.
