Live Action president Lila Rose addressed members in Brussels today \u201chorrified\u201d over Planned Parenthood scandal<\/strong><\/p>\n

BRUSSELS (October 15, 2015) \u2013 Today, American pro-life leader Lila Rose<\/a> keynoted a meeting at the European Parliament on the Planned Parenthood baby parts scandal in the U.S. and previous undercover research that exposed the cover-up of sex trafficking of minors, the promotion of sex- and race-selective abortions, and the return of sexually abused minors to their abusers.<\/p>\n

Several members of the European Parliament at the meeting proposed an inquiry into the U.S. scandal and the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), which receives funding from the European Commission.\u00a0 Members called on the European Union (EU) to defund Planned Parenthood until investigations are carried out in Europe.\u00a0 Members also called for stricter controls on EU development aid to avoid unethical and illegal practices involving the sale of fetal body parts.<\/p>\n

\u201cEurope is horrified by the scandalous harvesting and selling of human body parts allegedly for profit by Planned Parenthood in the USA. This organization is active also in the EU and receives extensive funding from the European Commission,\u201d said Miroslav Mikol\u00e1\u0161ik, chairman of the working group and one of the members of the European Parliament who invited Rose to speak. \u00a0\u201cWe invited Ms. Lila Rose to provide first-hand testimony about this practice in the USA.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rose, the president of Live Action<\/a> in the United States, was invited by members of the European Parliament to present to the EPP Working Group on Bioethics and Human Dignity.\u00a0 Live Action\u2019s past investigations into the American abortion industry span nearly a decade.<\/p>\n

\u201cMembers of the European Parliament are concerned that Planned Parenthood\u2019s illegal activities don\u2019t stop at the U.S. border,\u201d said Rose. \u00a0\u201cI\u2019m grateful to see that members are taking the proactive steps to learn about the abuses we\u2019ve witnessed in the United States and to question what the money they provide Planned Parenthood is actually funding.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cPlanned Parenthood Federation of America is currently under investigation in the United States for the barbaric practice of dismembering and harvesting the body parts of children it aborts, illegally selling those parts for profit, harvesting organs from babies born with hearts still beating, and putting mothers at risk by illegally altering the abortion procedure to obtain more intact organs.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alojz Peterle, another member who invited Rose to speak, said, \u201cIt is unacceptable that an organization which appears to be breaching human rights, ethical standards, and laws is operating in the EU and is also being funded by EU taxpayers.\u00a0 I consider their activities as a serious offense over the first article of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, which talks about the inviolability of human dignity.\u201d<\/p>\n

Member of Parliament Michaela \u0160ojdrov\u00e1 said, \u201cThis case is, first of all, a precious lesson for European countries.\u201d<\/p>\n
