Arizona&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.12news.com\/news\/local\/arizona\/prescott-valley-couple-adopts-5-siblings\/360366480\">12 News<\/a> reports that the children came from an abusive home &#8220;where drugs and alcohol were a factor for their parents.&#8221; The children&#8217;s\u00a0father had passed away, and their mother was reportedly not in contact with the family. Other relatives tried to take in the siblings, but were unable to care for so many children together.<\/p>\n<p>So the Heuers did the one thing they could do to make sure the siblings didn&#8217;t have to split up: they adopted all five of them.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ArticleAd1\">\n<p><!-- \/1011927\/LAN_300_by_250_top_article --><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1473179053567-0\" class=\"ArticleAd1a\"><script>\ngoogletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1473179053567-0'); });\n<\/script><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cDue to the circumstances, knowing these children would likely be separated, and that\u2019s all they had left in this world is each other \u2014 it\u2019s just heartbreaking,\u201d Brenda said. \u201cWe didn\u2019t want to see that happen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The new family enjoys camping, boating, and travelling together. \u201cThey call us mom and dad,\u201d Brenda told\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/people.com\/human-interest\/arizona-parents-adopt-five-siblings-so-they-arent-split-up-in-foster-care-system\/\">People<\/a>. \u201cWe\u2019re such a family, we go camping together, and we\u2019re going to take them to Disneyland for their adoption celebration.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brenda says that the support they have received since announcing their decision to adopt has been encouraging. And while the adoption represents a happy ending for the siblings, the Heuers left open the possibility of the story continuing.
