The Gilmore Girls<\/em> creator is advertising a main character\u2019s possible abortion \u2013 playing into a new, dark Hollywood trend.<\/p>\n

The day after Thanksgiving, Netflix released a much-anticipated Gilmore Girls<\/em> revival, A Year in the Life<\/em>. As in the past, the show followed Rory Gilmore (Alexis Bledel) and her mother Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham) \u2013 and ended with a cliffhanger: Rory is pregnant. But, as the show\u2019s creator recently revealed, that doesn\u2019t mean she\u2019ll have a baby.<\/p>\n

If the show continues,\u00a0creator Amy Sherman-Palladino told media outlets that (the now 32-year-old) Rory would consider abortion.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe abortion issue is so weird, you know, because it\u2019s so testy with the world, especially the KKK world that we now live in,\u201d she told Buzzfeed<\/a>. \u201cBut I think that somebody as smart as Rory is going to take a step back and look at all the angles, and then make her decision,because it\u2019s too important a job to make the wrong decision when it comes to kids<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n

And if she does abort, it will probably be at Planned Parenthood (let\u2019s not forget that Rory once had a Planned Parenthood poster<\/a> in her Yale dorm room).<\/p>\n

Having a baby, when a woman isn\u2019t \u201cequipped,\u201d is irrational, according to Sherman-Palladino.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s nothing harder in the world than being a parent,\u201d she added. \u201cAnd if you are not equipped mentally, financially, emotionally, to take that on, you can\u2019t do it because the consequences are ridiculous.\u201d<\/p>\n

(Never mind the consequences of going through an abortion<\/a>.)<\/p>\n

She added, \u201cunless [Rory] thought,\u00a0I\u2019m really going to make a go at this and that\u2019s really going to make me happy, and I\u2019m really gonna make this kid happy<\/em>,\u201d [sic] she doesn\u2019t think she would have the baby. Not to mention, \u201832 is frickin\u2019 young, man.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

But she told the opposite<\/a> to TV Line<\/em>: 32 is the age to think about babies.<\/p>\n

But there\u2019s something about Rory being the same age as Lorelai was when we first met Lorelai [in the pilot] that has a lot more symmetry and means a lot more. And the fact that Rory has gone through this whole journey of trying to figure out what the f\u2013k her life is going to be and thinks, \u2018OK, I figured it out.\u2019 And then, \u2018Nooo, I haven\u2019t.\u2019 It\u2019s also the time to be thinking about having a baby if you\u2019re going to be thinking about it<\/strong>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Or the time to think about aborting<\/em>\u00a0a baby, Sherman-Palladino suggested.<\/p>\n

\u201cRory doesn\u2019t have to\u00a0keep<\/em>\u00a0the baby,\u201d she reiterated. \u201cThere are\u00a0choices\u00a0<\/em>here that she can make. It\u2019s just the left turn. It\u2019s that curveball that life throws you.\u201d<\/p>\n
