{"id":156965,"date":"2016-11-22T09:35:54","date_gmt":"2016-11-22T14:35:54","guid":{"rendered":"\/news\/?p=156965"},"modified":"2016-11-22T14:16:24","modified_gmt":"2016-11-22T19:16:24","slug":"texas-couple-chose-life-preborn-son-fatal-condition-receive-miracle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/texas-couple-chose-life-preborn-son-fatal-condition-receive-miracle\/","title":{"rendered":"Texas couple who chose life for preborn son with fatal condition receive &#8216;miracle&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.texasrighttolife.com\/miracle-for-texas-couple-who-chose-life-for-preborn-son-with-fatal-condition\/\">Texas Right to Life<\/a>) Last week Woodlands Church senior pastors and best-selling authors, Kerry and Chris Shook,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/kerryshook\/posts\/1405586726127120:0\">shared an urgent prayer request<\/a>\u00a0on their Facebook page.\u00a0 Their son Josh and his wife Kelli had learned that their preborn son suffers from a fatal kidney disease.\u00a0 Doctors pressured Josh and Kelli to abort their son, whom they named Jude.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fkerryshook%2Fposts%2F1405586726127120%3A0&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"734\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Kerry and Chris wrote:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The doctor gave them the option to terminate the pregnancy but they have chosen to fight for Jude\u2019s life, no matter the length.<\/p>\n<p>We know at this time that medically the outlook for Jude is not good. But we also know that only God has the final say and we believe He still works miracles.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>As church members and friends read and shared the post thousands of times, prayers spread.\u00a0 That\u2019s when Kerry and Chris say a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/kerryshook\/photos\/a.168435073175631.38213.166201980065607\/1407678309251295\/?type=3&amp;theater\">miracle occurred<\/a>.\u00a0 Doctors were able to offer hope for baby Jude.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fkerryshook%2Fposts%2F1407678309251295&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"668\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The family was connected with specialists in Cincinnati, Ohio, who are developing research to treat Jude\u2019s rare kidney disorder.\u00a0 After numerous tests, ultrasounds, and appointments, Kelli and baby Jude were accepted into the research program.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ArticleAd1\">\n<p><!-- \/1011927\/LAN_300_by_250_top_article --><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1473179053567-0\" class=\"ArticleAd1a\"><script>\ngoogletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1473179053567-0'); });\n<\/script><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Throughout the remainder of Kelli\u2019s pregnancy, doctors will provide experimental procedures for Jude with the hopes that he can grow and develop.\u00a0 Once Jude is born, he might have difficulty breathing and he will need dialysis.\u00a0 Kerry and Chris\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/kerryshook\/photos\/a.168435073175631.38213.166201980065607\/1408732942479165\/?type=3&amp;theater\">said<\/a>, \u201cThis is the beginning of a long journey, but we are so thankful that the Lord has provided a path for Josh and Kelli.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This week, Kelli underwent surgery to have an amnioport placed in her abdomen, which will provide the fluid that Jude needs for the rest of the pregnancy.\u00a0 Jude will need continued infusions every few days, which carry further risks.\u00a0 The most concerning risks are of infection or premature birth.\u00a0 Nonetheless, through all the obstacles ahead, Jude has a chance at Life because his parents courageously chose Life.<\/p>\n<p>Proud grandparents Kerry and Chris added, \u201cWe have had thousands of people all over the world praying for our sweet Jude, who has already changed our hearts and lives in big ways.\u201d\u00a0 Simply by being alive, Jude has touched many lives.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ArticleAd2\">\n<p><!-- \/1011927\/LAN_300_BY_250_mid_article --><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1473179101244-0\" class=\"ArticleAd2a\"><script>\ngoogletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1473179101244-0');
