Tim Kaine, Hillary Clinton’s vice-presidential nominee, may be the best, most recent example of politicians who say they believe one thing, but refuse to act on it and thus abandon their beliefs for politics.<\/p>\n

Live<\/a>\u00a0Action<\/a>\u00a0News<\/a>\u00a0has<\/a>\u00a0extensively<\/a>\u00a0covered<\/a>\u00a0Kaine<\/a>, who claims to be\u00a0personally pro-life. Kaine has\u00a0said<\/a>\u00a0of abortion,\u00a0“I don\u2019t like it personally. I\u2019m opposed to abortion.” But Kaine,\u00a0who says he is Catholic<\/a>, even\u00a0failed to stand against the Democrats’ push to get rid of\u00a0the Hyde Amendment<\/a>\u00a0(which prevents other taxpayers from funding abortions). In a way, Kaine may have used his “personally pro-life” claim\u00a0to mask the truth: that far too often,\u00a0politics trumps human rights.<\/p>\n

As governor of Virginia, Kaine once\u00a0had a campaign platform and voting record aimed at reducing abortions<\/a>. However, his vote score and bill sponsorships in the U.S. Senate, as well as his\u00a0debate<\/a>\u00a0performance<\/a>\u00a0against now Vice President-elect Mike Pence, show a voting record on par with politicians who embrace their pro-abortion records and don’t bother claiming to be personally pro-life.<\/p>\n
