As reported by <a href=\"http:\/\/newsone.com\/3219562\/baby-buns-family-son-fighter-dana-griffin-graves-out-of-critical-care\/\">NewsOne<\/a>, after 17 years of trying to have children &#8212; including four miscarriages and a stillbirth at six months &#8212; Arkell Graves and Dana Griffin-Graves were beyond thrilled to be expecting a child and to have made it to five months gestation. They also had a son through adoption.<\/p>\n<p>However, just weeks after sharing their video, Griffin-Graves went into preterm labor and their baby boy Kaleb was born, weighing just 13 ounces, on October 20, 2015.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/O9nviJhPZTA\" width=\"810\" height=\"456\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Griffin-Graves was experiencing extremely high blood pressure, which led to the early arrival of Kaleb. She was told her life was at risk and that she most likely wouldn&#8217;t survive, but she did, and so did Kaleb &#8212; even though doctors only gave him a five percent\u00a0chance of survival. Since he was born so young, Kaleb struggled with lung issues, and his parents knew he would need to spend a few months in the NICU.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FDanaArkell%2Fphotos%2Fa.1620753148185737.1073741828.1620636338197418%2F1632466373681081%2F%3Ftype%3D3&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"334\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.littlethings.com\/baby-bun-graduates\/\">After six months<\/a> in the hospital, the family was finally making plans to go home. Kaleb had moved up to a non-invasive ventilator and had successful surgery to repair a hole in his heart, but then his health took an unexpected turn. Kaleb needed a tracheostomy tube placed in his throat to help him breathe, and he also had to have a gastronomy tube placed to help him get the nutrients he needed to grow.<\/p>\n<p>It would take another six months before Kaleb would be able to go home with his parents and big brother Keelyn. He made it home just a couple of weeks shy of his first birthday. To celebrate the occasion, his tearful and grateful parents took photos of Kaleb in a cap and gown, marking his graduation from the NICU. The now 13-pound boy arrived home on October 11, 2016.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FDanaArkell%2Fphotos%2Fa.1620753148185737.1073741828.1620636338197418%2F1691662537761464%2F%3Ftype%3D3&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"608\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In order to ensure the transition to home was successful, Kaleb&#8217;s parents had to learn how to properly care for their son away from the doctors and nurses of the NICU.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ArticleAd1\">\n<p><!-- \/1011927\/LAN_300_by_250_top_article --><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1473179053567-0\" class=\"ArticleAd1a\"><script>\ngoogletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1473179053567-0'); });\n<\/script><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&#8220;We all know practice makes perfect and in preparation of Kaleb&#8217;s release we&#8217;ve practiced using the home ventilator, sitting in a car seat, mom and dad handling all of his care and medical needs for 12 hours at a time,&#8221; they wrote on their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/DanaArkell\/?fref=ts\">Facebook page<\/a>. &#8220;We have an overwhelming feeling of excitement. But this is what we&#8217;ve prayed for so we believe God will give us an unending supply of strength to handle any situation.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FDanaArkell%2Fphotos%2Fa.1620753148185737.1073741828.1620636338197418%2F1754346801493037%2F%3Ftype%3D3&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"464\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Kaleb received a limo ride home from the hospital as part of the big celebration.
