I usually don\u2019t agree with what Vox<\/a> has to say, but here\u2019s something they got right:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe unfilled vacancy of Antonin Scalia\u2019s seat combined with a Hillary Clinton victory in November could set the Court on a new course.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

That\u2019s from an article<\/a> called, \u201cHow the first liberal Supreme Court in a generation could reshape America.\u201d It examines the impact judicial appointments have — something pro-lifers should be aware of.<\/p>\n

The Supreme Court has a special talent when it comes to abortion: finding what isn\u2019t there. For example, while the Constitution says nothing<\/a> about a right to abortion, that didn’t stop Justice Harry Blackmun from discovering one. Where? Well, he said it was part of the \u201cright of privacy.\u201d Where\u2019s that<\/i> right enumerated? It\u2019s not. As Blackmun himself admitted in Roe v. Wade<\/i><\/a>, \u201cThe Constitution does not explicitly mention any right of privacy.\u201d Despite this, Blackmun somehow knew that it both existed and<\/em> protected abortion:<\/p>\n

This right of privacy, whether it be founded in the Fourteenth Amendment\u2019s concept of personal liberty and restrictions upon state action, as we feel it is, or, as the District Court determined, in the Ninth Amendment\u2019s reservation of rights to the people, is broad enough to encompass a woman\u2019s decision whether or not to terminate her pregnancy.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Blackmun also mentioned \u201cthe detriment\u201d of being denied the chance to abort; the detriment of getting aborted didn\u2019t come up. Here\u2019s what that can look like<\/a>:<\/p>\n
