Personhood Colorado<\/a> was informed earlier this week that Planned Parenthood lost their lawsuit to stop the amendment from being included on the ballot. Planned Parenthood had filed a similar lawsuit in 2008. If the correct number of signatures are collected, the amendment will appear on the ballot.<\/p>\n

Jennifer Mason, Spokesperson for Personhood USA and a resident of Colorado, stated<\/a>:<\/p>\n

Of course it does not surprise us that Planned Parenthood continues to attempt to silence the personhood message nationwide. Planned Parenthood is the nation\u2019s largest abortion profiteer. No matter what amendment we attempt, they oppose us, ignoring the scientific fact that human life begins at conception. They don\u2019t want abortions to decrease, because they want to continue to profit off of vulnerable women who need help.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Colorado Personhood Amendment that could appear on the 2012 ballot is unlike any other. Some of the language of the amendment has never before been filed in the United States. The amendment addresses issues such as IVF and contraception. The full text of the amendment is available here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

According to Wednesday\u2019s press release<\/a>, volunteers from Personhood Colorado must collect 85,853 valid signatures from Colorado voters by August 6th<\/sup>. Radio host and pastor Kevin Swanson and Rosalinda Lozano of Rachel\u2019s Vineyard are sponsoring the amendment. Gualberto Garcia Jones, J.D., Legal Analyst for Personhood Colorado, explained:<\/p>\n

The unanimous decision by the Colorado Supreme Court proved there is no question that this is a single subject issue and ready to go before voters. Once again, Planned Parenthood has furiously attempted to stand in the way of the people\u2019s right to petition, just as they stand in the way of truth, and in the way of the right to life of every preborn child.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Despite the victory, Personhood Colorado Spokesperson Jennifer Mason noted, \u201cWe expect that Planned Parenthood will continue to attempt to thwart our efforts because they decry any and all restrictions on abortion \u2013 which translates to restrictions to their billion dollar profit.\u201d<\/p>\n
