\"\"<\/a>In a textbook case of being too honest for her own good, a pro-abortion activist told lawmakers<\/a> on Thursday that she\u2019d gladly break the law to help minors kill babies without their parents\u2019 knowledge or consent. Episcopal Divinity School president and dean, Dr. Katherine Hancock Ragsdale, \u201crecalled the time she took a 15-year-old girl she had never met before to get an abortion\u201d:<\/p>\n

‘Although New Hampshire was closer to that girl\u2019s home than Boston, as it happened, I did not take her across state lines,’ Ragsdale said. ‘Nor did I, to my knowledge, break any laws.’<\/em><\/p>\n

‘But if either of those things had been necessary in order to help her, I would have done them,’ she continued. ‘And if helping young women like her should be made illegal I will, nonetheless, continue to do it.’<\/em><\/p>\n

Ragsdale cited her vows as an Episcopal priest as the reason why she would \u201chave no choice\u201d but to break the law.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The modern leadership of the Episcopal Church might embrace abortion<\/a>, but the Bible they claim to follow is decidedly less sympathetic<\/a>. And doesn\u2019t the church have anything to say about respecting parents\u2019 relationships with their children, or whether their judgment and authority takes precedence over that of a complete stranger?<\/p>\n

Of course, this is just another manifestation of the domineering arrogance that always undermines pro-\u201cchoice\u201d advocates\u2019 claims to respect the personal decision-making abilities of the individual. They don\u2019t trust the individual\u2019s judgment on subjects other than abortion<\/a>. They don\u2019t respect it in deciding whether<\/a> to give your own money to abortion. They don\u2019t respect it in deciding whether to offer abortion coverage<\/a>. They don\u2019t respect it in deciding whether to participate <\/em>in abortion<\/a>. They don\u2019t respect it in considering alternatives to abortion<\/a>. They don\u2019t even respect it in the right to vote<\/em> on abortion<\/a>!<\/p>\n

They\u2019re not pro-abortion because they trust women. Abortion comes first, and unconditional acceptance of it is the standard by which they decide whether to trust anybody<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Case in point<\/a>: only someone with a (pardon the expression) religious devotion to abortion could possibly say that \u201cabortion is a blessing,\u201d no matter what:<\/p>\n

And, and here’s one that really gets me in trouble, when a woman simply gets pregnant unintentionally and decides this is not a good time for her to bear and care for a child \u2013 there is no tragedy. The ability to enjoy healthy sexuality without risking a pregnancy that could derail her education or career, the development or exercise of the gifts God has given her, is a blessing.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cNo tragedy\u201d? God knows His children in the womb<\/a>, yet one of His supposedly avowed representatives on Earth sees \u201cno tragedy\u201d in the destruction of one of His children? None? \u201cEnjoy[ing] healthy sexuality\u201d is a greater \u201cblessing\u201d than the miracle of life?<\/p>\n

There are many ways that abortion corrupts the true, the good, and the beautiful in life\u2014through the devaluing of human life, the elevating of human hubris above God\u2019s wisdom, the unconditional worship of sexual gratification, the disregard for the rule of law, and the borderline contempt for the bond between parent and child\u2014and somehow, Dr. Hancock Ragsdale manages to embody them all.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
