The issue of fetal tissue sale has been on the political forefront over the past year after an Irvine-based pro-life group known as the\u00a0Center for Medical Progress<\/a>\u00a0released undercover videos showing Planned Parenthood trying to sell fetal tissue illegally.\u00a0The videos have sparked congressional\u00a0hearings<\/a>\u00a0and several state investigations.<\/p>\n

In March of 2016, the Center for Medical Progress\u00a0released a video<\/a>\u00a0highlighting how Planned Parenthood in Orange County, California, altered abortions in order to provide intact aborted\u00a0babies to two local for-profit companies, Da Vinci Biosciences, and its sister company, DV Biologics.\u00a0Now, California\u2019s Orange County District Attorney\u2019s Office is suing those two\u00a0companies<\/a> based out of Yorba-Linda, California. The suit claims\u00a0the medical companies are illegally profiting off the sale of aborted baby parts obtained from abortion providers.<\/p>\n

The Center for Medical Progress’s video<\/a> features Dr. Jennefer Russo, the medical director of Planned Parenthood Orange and San Bernardino Counties, who performs abortions up to 24 weeks. In case there were any doubt as to whether this Planned Parenthood was involved with the procurement companies in question, Russo confirms it in this video. A\u00a0press release from CMP\u00a0at the time of the video’s release states\u00a0the following:<\/p>\n

Russo confirms that her Planned Parenthood affiliate is currently working with a local biotech company to supply aborted fetal body parts:\u00a0\u201cYeah, it\u2019s Da Vinci,\u201d\u00a0she states. Da Vinci Biosciences, LLC, and its sister company, DV Biologics, LLC, are located in Orange County, CA and have been partnered with the local Planned Parenthood affiliate since 2008.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Planned Parenthood alleges that as of last year, it stopped accepting reimbursements for fetal tissue donations. However, since it’s founding in 2008, Da Vinci Biosciences has been a major donor of Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino counties. In fact, as CMP’s press release states, “Planned Parenthood Orange & San Bernardino Counties\u2019 2008 Annual Report<\/a>\u00a0lists Da Vinci Biosciences as one of the major financial donors to the abortion group.”<\/p>\n
