Anna is a full-time student who is raising her 2-year-old daughter on her own.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the first time I\u2019ve ever come across something that is specific to young parents,\u201d Anna said about the scholarship. \u201cIt\u2019s the first time that I actually feel like I\u2019m being accepted into A&amp;M.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There are currently very few resources available to assist parenting students who attend Texas A&amp;M.\u00a0 The biggest project the Pro-Life Aggies take on is raising funds for the $1,000 scholarship that is awarded to a selected student each semester.\u00a0 <strong>The organization&#8217;s hope is that pro-life groups at other universities will begin a scholarship program specifically to provide resources to student parents on their campuses as well.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Jennifer Rumpf, president of the Pro-Life Aggies, is ecstatic to have awarded the scholarship to a young woman like Anna.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnna is not only an impressive student as shown by how she balances school and being a loving mother, but she has won my heart and the hearts of Pro-Life Aggies because of how much she cares about the beautiful life she has brought into this world,\u201d Jen said. \u201cShe has a passion to reach out to others in her situation and share what she has learned.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Like many other pregnant and parenting students, she noted that community support was something she lacked. \u201cOne of the most shameful things about getting pregnant while you\u2019re still in school is the way other people your age see you.\u00a0 That really affected me.\u00a0 Having more support from the people around you would be great.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnna is a shining beacon of hope for those who find themselves young and pregnant,\u201d said Theresa MacGregor, an officer of the Pro-Life Aggies, who initially suggested to Anna that she consider applying for the scholarship. \u201cHer amazing example proves that being a young parent and still going to school is an achievable feat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can\u2019t let having a kid stop your life.\u00a0 You just can\u2019t,\u201d Anna advises students who find themselves faced with an unintended pregnancy. \u201cThey actually become the best part of your life if you give it a chance\u2026If it\u2019s something you really think you can\u2019t handle, adoption\u2014there\u2019s nothing wrong with it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-12825\" title=\"PPSS\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.www.liveactionnews.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/PPSS1-300x67.jpg\" width=\"348\" height=\"79\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/PPSS1-300x67.jpg 300w, https:\/\/archive.liveaction.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/PPSS1.jpg 465w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 348px) 100vw, 348px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>If you have questions about how to start a scholarship at your university, email <a href=\"mailto:ProLifeAggies@gmail.com\">ProLifeAggies@gmail.com<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On March 3, 2012, the Pro-Life Aggies at Texas A&#038;M University in College Station, Texas, officially awarded their newfound Pregnant and Parenting Student Scholarship during their first 5K fundraiser, \u201cRun for Their Lives.\u201d  The recipient is 22-year-old Anna, a history major at the university.
