The results were\u2026 less than impressive:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWhy is it that the same people who are against birth control and abortion are also against sex between two women or two men?\u201d Steinem asked her audience, reports the Memphis Flyer. She continued that those people \u201care against any sex that cannot end in reproduction.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Endlessly repeating the clich\u00e9d\u00a0<a href=\"\/news\/americas-views-abortion-still-dont-match-amanda-marcottes-caricatures-cant-stand\/\">&#8220;controlling sex is pro-lifers&#8217; secret ulterior motive&#8221; conspiracy theory<\/a>\u00a0won\u2019t change the fact that our stated reason for opposing abortion\u2014<strong>it kills innocent people<\/strong>\u2014is <a href=\"\/news\/40-quotes-from-medical-experts-that-prove-human-life-begins-at-conception\/\">scientifically<\/a>, <a href=\"\/news\/the-science-of-abortion-when-does-life-begin\/\">objectively<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abort73.com\/abortion\/medical_testimony\/\">irrefutably<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ehd.org\/prenatal-images-index.php\">obviously<\/a> true. Anybody claiming not to understand that recoiling at violence against children is one of the average person\u2019s most basic human intuitions\u2014which anyone who dismisses this obvious motivation to oppose abortion is doing\u2014is lying.<\/p>\n<p>The other issue Steinem invoked? Climate change. It turns out that climate change\u2014or rather, global warming, as the term has apparently reverted back to this week\u2014can only be alleviated by embracing abortion-on-demand, making abortion the latest in a long line of policies Steinem\u2019s allies have advocated for years anyway, that conveniently are also cures to an existential threat to the planet!<\/p>\n<p>Purely coincidental, I\u2019m sure. \u201cForced childbirth is the single biggest cause of global warming,\u201d she\u00a0said.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ArticleAd1\"><!-- \/1011927\/LAN_300_by_250_top_article --><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1473179053567-0\" class=\"ArticleAd1a\"><script>\ngoogletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1473179053567-0'); });\n<\/script><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>For the record, she\u2019s referring to a \u201cthreat\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/article\/411259\/climate-changes-instructive-past-george-will\">contradicted by historical precedent<\/a>, based in large part on <a href=\"http:\/\/hotair.com\/archives\/2010\/03\/02\/another-american-media-failure\/\">falsified, hidden, and manipulated data<\/a>, and propped up by a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spiked-online.com\/newsite\/article\/global-warming-the-97-fallacy\/15069#.V-V_YdyVaRv\">fabricated scientific consensus<\/a> that misrepresents the dissenting views of many scientists, with dissent further stigmatized by climate alarmists\u2019 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.weeklystandard.com\/senator-use-rico-laws-to-prosecute-global-warming-skeptics\/article\/963007\">open<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/redalertpolitics.com\/2016\/04\/14\/bill-nye-throw-climate-deniers-jail-video\/#wAqvpJiXjFB2IHV3.99\">desire<\/a> to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnsnews.com\/commentary\/hans-von-spakovsky\/new-york-ag-tries-criminalize-scientific-dissent-climate-change-soviet\">criminalize<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/dailysignal.com\/2016\/01\/21\/california-joins-the-effort-to-persecute-suppress-scientific-dissent-on-climate-change\/\">dissent<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Nor is the overpopulation that supposedly fuels global warming an existential threat. The <a href=\"\/news\/beatles-founder-john-lennon-called-overpopulation-a-joke-during-vintage-interview\/\">mass starvation predictions of the 60s and 70s turned out to be bogus<\/a>, and as David Harsanyi <a href=\"http:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2016\/08\/23\/have-lots-of-children-its-good-for-the-planet\/\">explains<\/a> at the Federalist:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>According to the World Bank, because of the spread of trade, technological advances, and plentiful energy, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.worldbank.org\/en\/news\/press-release\/2015\/10\/04\/world-bank-forecasts-global-poverty-to-fall-below-10-for-first-time-major-hurdles-remain-in-goal-to-end-poverty-by-2030\">the number of people around the world living in extreme poverty has fallen below 10 percent<\/a>. We also have <a href=\"http:\/\/www.npr.org\/sections\/goatsandsoda\/2015\/06\/01\/411265021\/there-are-200-million-fewer-hungry-people-than-25-years-ago\">fewer hungry people than ever<\/a> in the world; fewer <a href=\"http:\/\/www.politifact.com\/punditfact\/statements\/2014\/jul\/21\/stu-burguiere\/fewer-wars-fewer-people-dying-wars-now-quite-some\/\">people die in conflicts<\/a> over resources, and deaths due to extreme weather <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jpands.org\/vol14no4\/goklany.pdf\">have been dramatically declining for a century<\/a>. Over the past 40 years, our water and air is cleaner, despite population growth [\u2026] Everything is headed in the wrong direction for environmental scaremongers. If we\u2019re already experiencing the negative force of climate change \u2014 which I\u2019m told we are every time we have ugly weather somewhere in the country \u2014 shouldn\u2019t things be getting worse?<\/p>\n<p>[\u2026] Even the United Nations estimates that the nine billion people expected by 2050 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2013\/09\/14\/opinion\/overpopulation-is-not-the-problem.html?_r=0\">could be supported with the technology we already possess<\/a>. What Malthusians never take into consideration are the efficiencies and technology we don\u2019t have yet, which continually amaze us and undermine their dark vision of humankind\u2019s future.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Perhaps most interestingly, Steinem inadvertently alludes to Planned Parenthood\u2019s true goal, and it\u2019s not \u201cchoice.\u201d If her premise was correct\u2014the more babies are born, the more danger the planet is in\u2014wouldn\u2019t it logically follow (from their perspective) that the number of abortions needs to go up? If they really believe abortions heal the environment, then how can they be indifferent to the choice women ultimately make, as they profess to be? Wouldn\u2019t actively encouraging the outcome where the baby dies be their duty to Mother Nature?<\/p>\n<p>Then again, if Planned Parenthood didn&#8217;t have a preference for which choice women make, their prenatal care wouldn&#8217;t have <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theradiancefoundation.org\/planned-parenthoods-big-fat-three-percent-lie\/\">dropped 53.8% from 2009 to 2013<\/a>, and their ratio of abortions to adoption referrals would be a little more even than <a href=\"\/news\/analysis-government-funding-increases-planned-parenthoods-abortions\/\">134.54 to 1<\/a>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Nor is this the only time Planned Parenthood has played footsie with population control. There is, of course, <a href=\"\/news\/planned-parenthoods-connections-to-eugenics\/\">the eugenics agenda of not only<\/a> Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger, but of numerous leading officials in the organization&#8217;s history. In the modern day, the International Planned Parenthood Federation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifesitenews.com\/opinion\/get-the-u.s.-out-of-the-united-nations-population-fund\">has received $20 million<\/a> from the United Nations Population Fund, which has ties to China&#8217;s barbaric forced-abortion regime.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ArticleAd2\"><!-- \/1011927\/LAN_300_BY_250_mid_article --><\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1473179101244-0\" class=\"ArticleAd2a\"><script>\ngoogletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1473179101244-0'); });\n<\/script><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Worse, as Reggie Littlejohn of Women&#8217;s Rights Without Frontiers <a href=\"http:\/\/www.womensrightswithoutfrontiers.org\/blog\/international-planned-parenthood-working-hand-in-hand-with-the-coercive-population-control-machine-in-china\/\">explains<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Today IPPF is still CFPA\u2019s [China Family Planning Association] main international supporter, and its executives have gone on record praising the achievements of China\u2019s notorious One Child Policy. China\u2019s family planning office, in turn, has expressed the importance of international cooperation for maintaining control over population levels.<\/p>\n<p>In 2009, IPPF director-general Gill Greer called China\u2019s One-Child Policy \u201cvery conducive to China\u2019s development in various aspects,\u201d including the realm of \u201chealth care services.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a 2011 letter to the editor, former Planned Parenthood Executive Vice President Norman Fleishman called China\u2019s One Child Policy a \u201cstart\u201d to curbing global population.<\/p>\n<p>IPPF\u2019s site points to CFPA as its main operations hub in China and has recently publicized its good relationship with the Chinese government. In 2013, following a change in China\u2019s leadership, IPPF described its meeting with new Chinese premier Li Kequiang and mutual plans to \u201cstrengthen the partnership\u201d between China and IPPF.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The secret has been out for a long time that Planned Parenthood is pro-abortion rather than pro-choice, with <a href=\"\/news\/former-manager-planned-parenthood-views-a-womans-body-as-a-profit-center\/\">profit<\/a> being a <a href=\"\/news\/planned-parenthood-int-pro-woman-its-pro-profit\/\">greater<\/a> <a href=\"\/news\/planned-parenthood-care-no-matter-profit\/\">concern<\/a> than helping women figure out what\u2019s \u201cbest for them\u201d (why else would Planned Parenthood <a href=\"\/news\/planned-parenthood-raises-abortion-pill-price-in-poor-minority-community\/\">jack up pill prices in poor neighborhoods<\/a>?).
