On September 10, comedian Andy Richter offered his eternal gratitude<\/a> to Planned Parenthood for aborting his baby.\u00a0He also had\u00a0a very hostile message\u00a0for pro-lifers: “F— ’em.”\u00a0Richter’s comments<\/a> came as he hosted the second ever\u00a0“Sexy Beast,” an art-themed fundraiser for Planned Parenthood Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

The comedian, best known for his role as Conan O’Brien’s perennial sidekick, began by telling his wife’s abortion story. In 1992,\u00a0Richter and his then\u00a0girlfriend, Sarah Thyre\u00a0– who is now his wife – were both struggling performers.\u00a0 One day,\u00a0Thyre called to inform him that she was pregnant, which according to\u00a0Richter was “not exactly happy news.”\u00a0Neither felt ready to be parents, so they\u00a0chose to abort\u00a0the baby at a Planned Parenthood clinic. Richter\u00a0admits that\u00a0he and Sarah were both\u00a0“sad” about the abortion.<\/p>\n

But in his speech,\u00a0he thanked\u00a0Planned Parenthood for the abortion. “Planned Parenthood gave two young struggling people the ability to do the thing that is in their name: We got to plan parenthood,” he said. “When we could barely care for ourselves, much less a newborn, we were able to choose the time when we brought a child into our lives.”<\/p>\n
