This month, a judge ruled that Phi Kappa Psi\u2019s lawsuit against Rolling Stone<\/i> magazine can proceed<\/a>. The fraternity is suing over an article that ran in 2014. In it, a University of Virginia student said she was hurled through a glass table and then sexually assaulted for three hours at a Phi Kappa Psi party.<\/p>\n

The facts said otherwise.<\/p>\n

Friends of the accuser announced they had been misquoted<\/a> and saw no injuries<\/a> consistent with her account. A picture<\/a> she offered of the alleged ringleader turned out to have been taken from social media; he did not attend UVA, didn\u2019t live in the area, and been out of state when the incident allegedly occurred. After a four-month investigation, local law enforcement found \u201cno basis<\/a>\u201d to believe any gang-rape had happened. Meanwhile, the purported victim refused to cooperate. Rolling Stone<\/i> ultimately retracted the story<\/a>, although not before Phi Kappa Psi members experienced death threats and vandalism<\/a>.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Demonstrations were held outside their house when the piece first ran; one protester declared that<\/a> she was ready to \u201cact up\u201d against sexual violence. If that\u2019s the case, then there\u2019s another organization she should be protesting. And unlike at Phi Kappa Psi, the rapists\u00a0that visit there are all too real.<\/p>\n

Planned Parenthood performs over three hundred thousand abortions<\/a> every year. What they don\u2019t like to do is ask questions, something Timothy Smith<\/a> learned when he brought his 13-year-old stepdaughter in. While Colorado\u2019s Office of Children, Youth, & Families tells medical professionals to be suspicious if a child under 14 \u201cbecomes pregnant or contracts a venereal disease<\/a>,\u201d staff at Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains didn\u2019t agree: one later admitted that \u201cbeing thirteen and pregnant alone is not a red flag<\/a>\u201d there. No report was filed and the abortion they performed allowed Smith to keep up the abuse.<\/p>\n

Planned Parenthood didn\u2019t ask Edgar Ramirez<\/a> too many questions, despite having done two abortions on his 13 thirteen-year-old daughter in less than 6 months.<\/i> They did give her an IUD, though, making sure her abuse continued without the potential scurity that pregnancy can bring.<\/p>\n

Planned Parenthood wasn\u2019t worried about Gary Cross\u2019<\/a> victim either. Cross took his 13-year-old stepdaughter to Planned Parenthood when her mother noticed she had gained weight. Her being pregnant and well below the age of consent didn’t prompt staff to contact authorities. Instead, they set up a late-term abortion, after which Cross went back to raping her.<\/p>\n

Planned Parenthood apparently did<\/i> ask Luis Gonzalez-Jose\u2019s<\/a> 11-year-old victim some questions–they just didn\u2019t care about her answers. The girl claimed to have been impregnated by a boy her own age. That she couldn\u2019t recall his name, address, or phone number<\/a> wasn\u2019t a problem.<\/p>\n

They didn\u2019t have to ask Denise Fairbanks<\/a> any questions. As she explained in her lawsuit, Fairbanks explicitly told Planned Parenthood staff her father had raped her. Their response? Perform an abortion and turn her back over to him. Planned Parenthood chose to settle<\/a> rather than face a jury.<\/p>\n

And it doesn\u2019t stop there: the victims of Andrew King<\/a>, John Haller<\/a>, Adam Gault<\/a>, and Gray David Woods<\/a> got little concern as well. Given Planned Parenthood\u2019s reluctance to ask questions, here\u2019s one you should ask yourself: \u201cWhy am I funding it?\u201d<\/p>\n

Planned Parenthood receives half a billion<\/a> dollars in federal funds annually. That\u2019s despite the fact that federally qualified health centers<\/a> (FQHCs) and community health centers<\/a> (CHCs) are more accessible<\/a> and offer a greater range of services. Last year, FQHCs performed over five hundred thousand<\/a> mammograms. Planned Parenthood? None<\/a>. While the Phi Kappa Psi rapists may have been fictional, the ones who\u2019ve gotten help from Planned Parenthood definitely aren\u2019t.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
